The United National Parliamentary group has passed a resolution to defeat if a 'no-confidence motion' is moved against the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament.

The decision was taken during a meeting held at Temple Trees yesterday (Mar. 19).

The main focus of the meeting was the proposed 'no-confidence motion'.

The Joint Opposition say they have already begun the process to muster signatures for the motion against the PM.

They will meet today to discuss further course of action.

The meeting will be chaired by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The UNP restructuring committee report was also presented to the PM at this meeting.

Meanwhile, Rosy Senanayake was sworn-in before PM Ranil Wickremesinghe and Western Province Governor K. C. Logeswaran yesterday as the Mayor of Colombo.

She is the first woman Mayor to be elected to the CMC.

The other councillors took their oaths thereafter.
