Ja Ela garment factory ordered to be closed down

The garment factory in which the workers suffered from an allergy due to a gas leak was ordered to be shut down.
 
The Ja Ela police said they had obtained a court order to close down the factory until a report is called from relevant organizations with regard to the incident that took place at the factory.
 
Police said actions will be filed against the factory management for not adopting safety measures.
 
Yesterday (Mar. 19), 47 workers had admitted to Ragama, Ja Ela and Gampaha hospital after they were distressed due to a gas leak.
 
At that time, 1200 staff were in the factory.
 
Then the police had advised the management to close down the factory temporarily until the situation is rectified.
 
However, they have resume work this morning disregarding the advice.
 
Then 52 more staff had fallen sick today and they were admitted to Ragama and Gampaha hospitals.
