The  T-56 weapon used in the murder of underworld gang member Shantha Kumara alias Kos Malli was found buried at a house in Agunakolapalassa – Gotabhayagama yesterday (Mar. 20).

The weapon was recovered following information received during a confession made by a suspect who was arrested in connection with the case.

The weapon had been concealed in a thick plastic tube with its ends sealed and then buried.

Along with the weapon, police have found a magazine and 6 bullets.

On the 19th of March, police discovered an empty casing of a T-56 bullet, at the location where the decapitated body of the victim had been buried.

Suspects also disclosed this information during interrogations.

It has been revealed that Kos Malli had been abducted by the suspects and shot to death in Gotabhayagama.

The victim was a resident of Kelaniya and one of the associates of murdered underworld leader 'Samayan'.
