Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa says that the Indian government looks at Sri Lanka in a different way and have had certain misunderstandings.

In an interview with the Indian Express, the former Defence Secretary said that Sri Lanka had given India assurances whenever it raised concerns about any threats to Indian security.

He also said that during their time, it was normal for diplomats to meet opposition leaders but now, even the Indian High Commission is hesitant to meet them.

Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said that in diplomatic relationships, you cannot replace empowered diplomats with intelligence officers and went on to say that India has to come out of the ‘China phobia’.

Bus and three-wheel associations raise concerns over LIOC price hike

The increase in fuel prices by Lanka IOC has created a discussion in the society.

Chairman of the Southern Province Private Bus Owners’ Association, Chandana de Zoysa said that there is a risk of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation also increasing the prices of fuel to match the prices of Lanka IOC.

Our news team also spoke to several three-wheel drivers’ associations regarding the revision of fuel prices by Lanka IOC.

Chairman of All-Island Three-wheel Drivers’ and Owners’ Association, Sudil Jayaruk said that the government should provide concessions on fuel for three-wheel drivers.

However, the National Three-Wheel Association of Self Employed revealed that it expects to increase the fare for the 2nd kilometre by 10 rupees as a result of the increased fuel prices.

The Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Dammika Ranathunga yesterday (Mar. 24) stated that the Corporation has not yet made a decision on increasing the prices of fuel.
