Protest march demanding PM to resign reaches Mawanella

The first phase of the protest march organized by United Nation Freedom Front demanding Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to resign ended at Mawanella this evening (Mar. 31).

It began from Gatabe  Temple this morning with the participation of UNFF's Secretary Maithri Gooneratne.

The march reached Mawanella through Peradeniya and Pilimathalawa and it is scheduled to continue its journey to Colombo tomorrow.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Tamil National Alliance, Parliamentarian Mavai Senathirajah said that the TNA wishes to hold discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe about the 'no-confidence motion'.

The MP said that the discussion will be held on the 3rd of April or a closer date.

However, Parliamentarian, Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thera revealed that the Tamil National Alliance which represents the Leader of the Opposition will fulfil the duties of a true opposition during this decisive moment.
