Illegal sand miners assault a wildlife officer

A group of illegal sand miners have attacked a wildlife officer in Polonnaruwa.
 
The Assistant Wildlife Conservator of Polonnaruwa P. M. B. Wijekoon was admitted to Polonnaruwa General Hospital last night.
 
A group of Wildlife Conservation officers last night carried out a raid following a tip-off on a sand mining racket.
 
Assistant Forest Conservator P. M. B. Weejekoon said that two unidentified persons arrived at the spot and attacked them.
 
Polonnaruwa Police are conducting investigations.
