UNP to hand over NCM against SLFP Ministers

United National Party MP Mujibur Rahman says that they will hand over a 'no-confidence motion' against the SLFP Ministers who voted in favour of the NCM moved by the Joint Opposition against the Prime Minister.

The MP elaborated that the motion will be handed over tomorrow.

Ministers Susil Premajayantha, Dayasiri Jayasekera, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, S. B. Dissanayake, W. D. J. Seneviratne and Chandima Weerakkody voted for the NCM.

State Ministers and Deputy Ministers Lakshman Wasantha Perera, Dilan Perera, Sumeda G. Jayasena, Susantha Punchinilame, Thilanga Sumanthipala, Sudharshani Fernandopulle, Lakshman Yapa, Anuradha Jayaratne, T. B. Ekanayake and Tharanath Basnayake voted in support of the motion.

Meanwhile, a group of UNP MPs have written to the Prime Minister asking him to remove 6 SLFP Ministers from the Cabinet as they voted in favour of the 'no-confidence motion'.

33 UNP MPs have signed the letter sent to the Prime Minister and among the defiant Ministers listed in the letter are S.B. Dissanayake, W.D.J. Senevirathne, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Susil Premajayantha, Chandima Weerakkody and Dayasiri Jayasekera.

At the same time, a welcome ceremony was held at Sirikotha this morning, following the victory of the 'no-confidence motion' moved against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

During this ceremony, Minister Kabir Hashim said that he resigned from the UNP General Secretary's post to pave the way for party restructure programme.

Meanwhile, addressing a media conference held in Puttalam, State Minister, Palitha Range Bandara said that his district should be offered a Ministry portfolio that is connected to irrigation and agriculture.
