Chairperson of Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission Dr. Deepika Udugama says that the Commission has decided to travel to the locations in the Kandy District to get a firsthand look those places.

As part of the initial phase of the investigation, written evidence will be sought from persons affected by the riots.

The Human Rights Commission said that internet photographs, video footage and voice tapes could be submitted as evidence.

The violence in Kandy spread to a number of areas following a death of a person in a ‘road rage’ incident.
