The Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development says that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation’s fuel prices will be increased after the New Year.

Responding to a query from our news team, the Secretary to the Ministry Upali Marasinghe said that the Petroleum Corporation incurs a loss of Rs. 38 million on a daily basis by selling fuel for current prices.

Reports revealed that a pricing formula to determine local fuel price in line with the global price fluctuations has been submitted for cabinet approval.

The Lanka IOC recently increased the price of diesel by Rs. 5 and petrol by Rs. 9 per litre.
