Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the country is not encountered with an electricity crisis.

The Minister made this statement to media after a function in Galigamuwa yesterday (Apr. 10).

Meanwhile, the Joint Opposition has said that there will be an electricity crisis in the country in the near future.

Participating at a media briefing convened in Colombo yesterday, MP Bandula Gunawardene said that a crisis would evolve due to the increase in demand for electricity.

He also predicted that the cost of electricity will also increase.

Contrary to this statement, Minister Siyambalapitiya said that there will not be an increase in electricity charges or enforcement of power cuts.
