12-member committee appointed to restructure UNP

A 12-member Committee has been appointed to come up with recommendations to restructure the United National Party.
 
The Committee will hold their first meeting at Temple Trees this afternoon (Apr. 11).
 
Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Ranjith Maddumabandara, Gayantha Karunathillake, State Ministers Eran Wickramaratne and Ruwan Wijewardena and Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera are in the Committee.
 
The new office bearers of the UNP are expected to be appointed before 30th of this month.
 
Ministers Malik Samarawickrema and Kabir Hashim resigned from the posts of Chairman and General Secretary of the UNP respectively, to facilitate the relevant changes.
 
Meanwhile, the leaders of the United National Front were expected to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this morning.
