Northern Chief Minister, C.V. Vigneshwaran says that people in the North have demanded that he should contest again for the Chief Ministerial position at the next election.

He also told journalists that he has not yet taken a decision to form a new political party.

The Tamil National Alliance’s Media spokesperson MP, M. A. Sumanthiran said recently that his party has no intention of nominating Vigneshwaran for the office of Northern Chief Minister again.

The Chief Minister in response said that he has doubts with regards to if the TNA coalition parties are respecting and adhering to agreed policies.

The Chief Minister said that he had not caused division in the Alliance, but had pointed out its shortcomings instead, in order to pave the way for the party to move forward.

Meanwhile, the Northern Provincial Education Minister Dr. K. Sarveshwaran took oaths as the acting Chief Minister before Provincial Governor Reginald Cooray to oversee Chief Minister Vigneshwaran’s role during the time he is away on tour in India.
