SLFP Ministers and MP's who voted for NCM to resign from posts tonight

State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene says 16 SLFP Ministers and MPs who voted for the NCM on PM will step down from their posts in the Unity Government from midnight today.

He also said that President Maithripala Sirisena gave his permission to the move during a meeting this evening (Apr. 11).

Altogether, 15 SLFP Ministers and Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala voted for the NCM on 4th of April.

S. B. Dissanayake, Dayasiri Jayasekera, W. D. J. Seneviratne, Sudharshani Fernandopulle, Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Chandima Weerakkody, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Dilan Perera, Anuradha Jayaratne, Sumedha G, Jayasena, T. B. Ekanayake, Lakshman Wasantha Perera, Susantha Punchinilame, Tharanath Basnayake and Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala voted for the NCM.

They met the President at his Official Resident and discussed the issues at length.

Thereafter, they have decided to step down from their positions.

Meanwhile, Minister S. B. Dissanayake said whether they should stay with the Unity Government or not would be decided after convening the SLFP Central Committee.
