It is found that the Gazette issued to prorogue the Parliament has not mentioned a specific time to commence the sessions on 8th of May.

When contacted, the Deputy General Secretary of the Parliament Neil Iddawela said, as a result, a revised gazette notification will be issued, after the President is returned from the United Kingdom.

The President issued the gazette notification to prorogue the Parliament’s first session on 12th of April.

Although the date of commencement had been mentioned in the Gazette, the time of commencement of the session has not been mentioned.

Iddawela added that Gazette notifications with such omissions had been issued in the past.
