Parliament authorities are facing a crisis situation in arranging the seating facilities for the 16 Sri Lanka Freedom Party parliamentarians who had quit the Unity Government recently.

They say they would sit in the Opposition when the House is reconvened.

However, they have not yet informed the Parliament staff of their intentions.

In such situations, the MPs who intend to cross over to the Opposition should officially inform the Speaker.

The Deputy Secretary-General of Parliament, Neil Iddawela told us if any MP wants to crossover to the Opposition without an official announcement, he or she can do so by crossing the Well of the House and sit with the Opposition when parliament meets again.

Meanwhile, a former State Minister, T. B. Ekanayake who resigned from the Government along with 14 other Ministers told us that their group has already discussed the seating procedures with the Leader of the Joint Opposition Group Dinesh Gunawardena.
