The President Maithripala Sirisena says that the good work done by the present government is not flowed to the masses despite establishing freedom and democracy in the country.

He added that a major reason for that is certain media and social media platforms attempt at highlighting falsehoods and suppressing the truth to gain narrow political advantage and commercial benefits.

The President further stated that they have not truly understood the value of the freedom given to everybody by the present government.

President Sirisena who is in London expressed these views during an interaction with a group of Sri Lankans living in the UK.

The President emphasized that the government has taken steps with a dedication to fulfilling the duties on behalf of the country during the last three years.

He added that one of the priorities of the government was to establish coexistence and reconciliation and to make the peace gained by the country a permanent one.
