Unauthorized constructions in Mirissa coast to be removed

The Coastal Conservation Department says that all the unauthorized constructions in the Mirissa coastal belt will be removed from the 1st of May.
 
Director General of the Department, Prabath Chandrakeerthi revealed this addressing a media conference following recent incidents in the area.
 
Two groups of tourists from the Netherlands and Israel were assaulted in 2 separate incidents on 8th and 15th of April in Mirissa beach by the locals.
 
At present 13 persons are in remand custody over the incidents.
 
Sri Lanka Tourism also took steps to order the authorities to close down few restaurants in the area which were operating without licenses.
