The Government Printer says that a new Gazette notification has been issued relating to the opening of next Parliamentary session, correcting legal shortcomings of earlier one.

On 12th of April, President prorogued the Parliament, until 8th of May.

However, that Gazette did not mention a time for the commencement of the session.

Thereafter, another Gazette was issued on April 23 which said that the Parliament will be convened at the Sri Jayewardenepura Parliament Meeting Hall, on 8th of May 2018, at 2.15 pm.

The legal experts said that the Parliamentary session should be ended and re-convened under the powers vested with the President under the 1st sub-Article of the 70th Article of the constitution.

However, they said that the second Gazette had been issued under the under 4th sub-Article of the 70th Article.

Then last midnight (Apr. 26), a third Gazette was issued correcting those shortcomings.
