The PHI Union of Sri Lanka says that 2,625 dansals have been registered island-wide for the Vesak celebrations this year.

Speaking to our news team, its secretary, B.M.M. Balasuriya stated that spot inspections of dansal premises will be carried out today (Apr. 28).

Director General of Health Services, Doctor, Anil Jasinghe said that it is mandatory for dansals to be registered.

Meanwhile, police said that a special programme is in place to ensure the security of those visiting Colombo during the Vesak week.

Police Media Spokesperson, SP Ruwan Gunasekara revealed that about 3,000 police officers will be on duty in Colombo.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transport Board and the Sri Lanka Railways have made special transport arrangements in view of the Vesak Week.

The Deputy General Manager of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, Tudor Chandrasiri stated that around 100 additional buses have been deployed.

Deputy General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways, Wijaya Samarasinghe said that special train services will be operating from Colombo Fort to many destinations in view of the Vesak week.
