Hiru Shaakya Sinha Mangalyaya organized by Hiru TV and Hiru FM of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation to mark Vesak this year, commenced at the Ruwanweli Maha Saaya in Anuradhapura this morning (Apr. 29).

Several religious activities have been organized at the sacred site with the attendance of the thousands of devotees.

It is significant that a donation of rugs to the sacred Ruwanweli Maha Saaya will be done under the patronage of the Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Rayynor Silva.

Devotees who visit Anuradhapura to worship the Atamasthana worship Ruwanweli Maha Saaya irrespective of it being day or night.

However, the heat in the afternoon makes it tough for devotees to walk along the stone floor.

Accordingly, the rugs will be offered, for the benefit of devotees.

A Samadhi Buddha Statue and a Dolos Mahe Pahana will also be offered to the Ruwan Weli Maha Seya by Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Rayynor Silva.

Meanwhile, for the first time in South Asia, an offering of lights will be done using light projectors.

Meanwhile, Hiru Uttama Dhatu Wandanaa, exposition of the Kapilawasthu Relics, will commence at the Jethawanaramaya in Anuradhapura.

Hiru FM, Hiru TV and the Asia Broadcasting Corporation have completed preparation activities to accommodate the devotees arriving at the temple precincts to worship the sacred relics.
