Lanka Private Bus owners association states that private bus fares should be increased by more than 10% from next week.

It states that the increase should be based on the fuel price hike and the annual revision of bus fares.

Addressing a media briefing in Colombo today, Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus owners Association Gemunu Wijerathna said that the minimum bus fare should also be increased.

In addition, a national three wheelers union demanded that the Government should provide a fuel subsidy for three wheel operators.

Addressing a media conference held in Nugegoda this morning, union chairman, Sunil Jayawardana said that three wheel drivers will increase the charges from the second kilometer too, unless such a subsidy is granted before this Monday.
