The Met Department says the possibility for afternoon thundershowers is still high over the island.

Showers or thundershowers will occur over most provinces of the island, particularly after 2 pm.

Showers will occur in Western and Southern provinces and in Puttalam district during the morning too.

Heavy falls, about 100mm can be expected at some places, particularly in Western, Central, Southern and Uva provinces and in Ampara, Batticaloa and Kurunegala districts.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the morning.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.

The Met Office also said that showers or thundershowers will occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via
Colombo and Galle.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other sea areas in the evening or night.

Heavy falls can be expected at some places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo.

Temporarily very strong gusty winds (up to 70-80 kmph) and rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
