The second British rugby player who was hospitalized after developing breathing problems following a night out in Colombo has died.

The victim was 27-years-old.

The 22-member rugby side, Clems Pirates had arrived in Sri Lanka early last week to play a couple of friendly matches.

They had played one game on Saturday with CR & FC in Colombo and following the game several members of the team had visited a nightclub in Colpetty.

However, after returning to the team hotel, two players had developed breathing difficulties and the hotel management had admitted them to a leading private hospital in Colombo.

Meanwhile, the postmortem on the first victim who died on Sunday was conducted by the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer this morning (May 15).

He had ruled the death was caused not by a disease or an injury.

The JMO then issued an open verdict and had ordered to send body specimen to the Government Analyst for further tests.
