GMOA strike inconveniences patients

Doctors in the government hospitals launched an island-wide token strike this morning (May 17) to protest against the Free Trade Agreement signed between Sri Lanka and Singapore. 

The GMOA media spokesperson Dr. Samantha Ananda said that the strike that would continue until 8 am tomorrow.
 
He clarified however that the strike would affect the functions in maternity and children's hospitals, the Cancer Institute, and kidney clinics.
 
However, our correspondents said the patients who had arrived at hospitals were inconvenienced as a result of the ongoing strike.
