Two historic statues stolen from Jaffna kovil

Police say a historic kovil situated at the Urumbirai Savier Vidyala ground has been broken into and 2 historic statues have been removed.
 
The robbery had taken place between 1.30 am and 5.30am yesterday.
 
Police said that the 2 statues which are dating back to 100 years are valued at around Rs. 200,000.
 
The police probe began after the principal of the school lodged a complaint, and at around 11.30 am a suspect had been arrested and the stolen statues were recovered.
 
The suspect, aged 22, is a resident of Urumbirai, will be produced before court today (May 18).
