Met Department says the rainfall of 108.3 mm recorded in Colombo fort was the highest rainfall recorded within the 24-hour period.

Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organization said with the activation of South Western monsoon, 10 districts are at risk of experiencing landslides.

The NBRO urged the residents of those landslide-prone areas to be vigilant.

Due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance associated with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone, cloudy conditions along with heavy rainfall is expected over most parts of the island, the Colombo Met Office said.

Around 100mm of rainfall can be expected in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, Western and North-Western provinces and in Amparai and Batticaloa districts.
