Low-pressure zone develops over Sri Lanka

The Met Department says that heavy showers will continue for the next few days due to the South Western Monsoon and the formation of a low-pressure zone over Sri Lanka.
 
3 persons including a female were killed due to inclement weather during the last 24 hours.
 
The Disaster Management Centre said that a female had died in the Badalkumbura area in Moneragala as a tree had fallen on to her.
 
Meanwhile, 2 persons were killed by lightning in the Welikanda area in Polonnaruwa.
 
They were at a paddy field when the tragedy struck.
 
Meanwhile, our correspondents said that power disruptions are reported in Kegalle, Rambukkana, Mathugama, and Agalawatte due to trees falling on power lines as a result of incessant rains.
