Over 9800 families affected by inclement weather

The Disaster Management Center says around 38,040 persons of 9815 families are affected by inclement weather.

There were 8 deaths in weather-related incidents.

Being struck by lightning, buried in earth mounds, drowning and hit by falling trees have been noted as the various causes of those deaths.

 It has been reported that 19 houses have been completely damaged and 918 houses have been partially damaged owing to strong winds.

The Disaster Management Center said that measures have been taken to provide immediate relief to all individuals impacted by the adverse weather conditions.

The tri-forces are kept on call to assist with providing relief to those affected.

The Army Media Spokesperson Brigadier Sumith Atapattu noted that army troops and navy boats have been deployed in Kalutara, Ratnapura, Galle and Matara districts for relief missions.

The National Building Research Organization have issued landslide warnings for 11 districts including, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Badulla, Matale, Galle, Kurunegala, Gampaha, and Colombo.
