Health authorities warn ‘viral fever’ could spread further in South

The Health authorities warn that as a result of prevailing rains, there is an increased risk of viral fever which is spreading in the Southern Province, becoming further enhanced.
 
A team of experts from the Borella Medical Research Institute carried out spot checks in Kamburupitiya, Matara, and Karapitiya yesterday (May 21).
 
They will submit a complete report soon.
 
The Southern Province Health Service Director's Office said that currently more than 600 patients are being treated at Karapitiya, Matara, Elpitiya, Kamburupitiya, Tangalla and Walasmulla hospitals.
 
Meanwhile, Southern Province Education Ministry has instructed that all pre-schools be closed from today till 27th this month.
 
It has also been instructed that primary schools in Galle, Matara, Akuressa, Mulatiyana, Tangalle, and Walasmulla educational zones be closed today and tomorrow.
