TNA objects to President’s nominee for Deputy Leader’s post

United People’s Freedom Alliance MP Angajan Ramanathan has been nominated for the post of Deputy Speaker.
 
It is stated that the President has proposed his name to the Speaker.
 
The Speaker has conveyed the political party leaders during a meeting about the nomination of MP Ramanathan to the new post.
 
However, it is reported that the Tamil National Alliance has objected to the nomination of Ramanathan as the Deputy Speaker.
 
Meanwhile, a TNA MP told us that the party has not taken a decision on the matter.
 
MP M. A. Sumanthiran has objected the nomination in his personal capacity.
 
However, it is reported that the proposal will be further discussed during the next political party leaders meeting.
 
Angajan Ramanathan entered parliament as an SLFP nationalist MP.
 
He is currently functioning as the SLFP chief organizer of the Jaffna district.
