Weather havoc : Death toll risen, rains to continue

The Disaster Management Centre says that the adverse weather has hit 19 districts affecting around 126,000.
 
The death toll has now reportedly risen to 15.
 
Meanwhile, 20 spill gates of the Thabbowa Reservoir in Puttalam have been opened.
 
The Disaster Management Centre has advised those living downstream to be vigilant.
 
Meanwhile, Director of the Irrigation Department Mala Alawathugoda said that the water levels of main rivers are receding.
 
The Met Department states that the prevailing rains in the South-Western part of the island are expected to continue today.
 
Showers or thunderstorms will occur at times in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and elsewhere after 2 pm.
 
The Duty Meteorologist Sathushka Premachandra stated that Heavy rainfalls of 50mm are predicted for Sabaragamuwa, Western, Central and North-Western provinces and in Galle, Matara districts.
