The Irrigations Department says that water levels of Kalu, Kelani, Gin, Nilwala Rivers as well as Attanagalu Oya and Ma Oya are gradually receding.
 
Director of the Irrigation Department Mala Alawathugoda stated that heavy showers were not experienced in catchment areas during the last 9 hours.
 
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre said that those living in low lying areas in Negombo, Ja Ela, Katana, Minuwangoda, Gampaha and Attanagalla should be vigilant as water levels of Attanagalu Oya is remained high.
 
People residing in Badalgama and Giriulla were also cautioned due to the high water levels of Ma Oya.
 
138 thousand 292 persons of 35 thousand 129 families have been affected by the inclement weather which has affected 20 districts.
 
16 persons have lost their lives as a result of the weather-related incidents.
 
The Disaster Management Centre further said that one sluice gate of Laxapana Reservoir continues to be opened while 12 sluices gates of Thabbowa are also remained open.
 
The landslide warning issued for Ratnapura, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Kalutara and Galle will also continue to be in effect.
 
Meanwhile, the Met Department said that prevailing rainy conditions in the South-Western part of the island is expected to continue.
 
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces.
