The Met Department says that although showers are expected to recede, the South-Western parts of the island are expected to experience few more showers.
 
The Director of the Met Department, Athula Karunanayake said that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Galle and Matara districts.
 
153, 712 persons belonging to 40, 017 families have been affected by inclement weather experienced in 20 districts.
 
National Disaster Management Centre said that 23 persons have lost their lives in weather-related incidents.
 
The landslide warning issued for Kalutara, Galle, Ratnapura, Kegalle and Nuwara-Eliya remains in place.
 
The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy says that due to heavy showers Castlereigh Reservoir is closing spill levels.
 
The Media Spokesperson of the Ministry Sulakshana Jayawardana speaking to us said that water levels of reservoirs used for hydropower generation have now neared 80 percent of their capacity.
 
Meanwhile, the body of the hero police constable attached to the Madampe Police who was dragged away by flood waters while trying to rescue a marooned family has been found.
 
Madampe Police stated that the 29-year-old Police constable’s body was found 200 meters from Galwala South.
 
He has been posthumously promoted to the rank of police sergeant.
