The Met Department says that South-west monsoon conditions have been established over the island.

Strong winds have been projected in and around the island.

The Duty Meteorologist janith Kumara stated that periodic Showers or thunderstorms will occur in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces.

Meanwhile, police have commenced investigations after 3 fishermen who were fishing off the coast of Jaffna-Kurukuttuwan were reported missing.

The fishermen had set out to sea on Saturday at 1.45 pm.

The fishermen had contacted their families yesterday (May 27) at around 7 am requesting to inform the Navy base in Naga Deepa that the seas were rough.

The Police Media Spokesperson's office said that Jaffna police with the support of Navy has commenced a search operation to locate the missing fishermen.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Center Pradeep Kodippili noted that with the overflowing of the Attanagalu Oya, neighbouring roads are inundated.
