Leave of railway workers cancelled

The Ministry of Transport announces that leave of all the Railway workers has been cancelled ahead of a planned strike by Railway Technical Services’ Union.
 
The Deputy Minister of Transport, Ashok Abeysinghe confirmed the leave cancellation.
 
The Railway Technical Services’ Union says they will launch a strike from 4 pm today (May 29) as the authorities are not willing to address their professional issues.
 
The Union has demanded to solve their salary anomaly as well as other issues.
 
The Chairman of the Railway Technical Services’ Union’s Committee  Sampath Rajitha said that as a consequence of this trade union action, the train services could be affected.
