Railway Technical Services’ strike continues

The Railway Main Control Room says that the office trains were operated as usual despite the ongoing strike action by the Railway Technical Services’ Union.

However, it announced that there might be delayed as a result of the strike. 
 
They commence a 48-hour token strike at 4 pm yesterday (May 29) over three demands, including a 12.1 percent salary increase be implemented.
 
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Railways announced that casual, temporary and contractual employees of the Railway Technical Service should report for work immediately
 
However, the trade unions that are engaged in the strike said that if the authorities take action to suppress the trade unions, they would take action to continue the token strike.
 
Railways General Manager, S. M. Abeywickrema also requested that the employees end the strike and report for work.
 
However, the President of the Railway Technical Services’ Trade Union Committee, Sampath Rajitha said that the strike would be in force till 4 pm tomorrow.
