Johann Peries who became the second Sri Lankan to reach the Everest summit returned to the island this morning (Jun 01).

He was given a rousing welcome at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Peries first attempted to reach the summit in April 2016 along with Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala, but he was forced to suspend the hike due to lack of oxygen.

Then he was just 448 meters to the summit.

However, last month he was able to fulfill his dream.
