Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has written to President’s Secretary seeking the list of the 118 parliamentarians who had reportedly received money from Perpetual Treasuries Limited or its subsidiary companies that belonged to Arjun Aloysius.

Sources from the Speaker’s Office stated that this written request was sent yesterday (May 31).

Meanwhile, MP Dayasiri Jayasekera admitted that he had received a cheque for one million rupees from Aloysius.

He further said the money was offered to his election campaign and that he has no direct involvement in that transaction.

In addition, Minister, Sarath Fonseka also publicly admitted that Aloysius had offered him Rs. 100,000.

As a consequence, political parties are now pointing fingers at one another and are expressing various views regarding the list of MPs.

Now the public is also demanding that the so-called list of 118 MPs should be exposed.

Meanwhile, it was reported yesterday that there is a roadblock preventing the names being exposed.

It is reported that the confidential documents including the C-350 document which carries the 118 MPs names have been sent to the National Archives with an embargo for 30 years.

The speaker, however, has the ability to access the names as allegations levelled against the entire Parliament of being accepting money.

Under that vested power, the Speaker has written to the President’s Secretary requesting that he be provided with the list.
