Accused of Bodh Gaya serial bomb blasts given life imprisonment

A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in India has sentenced all convicts in the Bodh Gaya serial bomb blast case to life imprisonment.
 
On July 7, 2013, nine serial bomb blasts had rocked the Buddhist pilgrim town of Bodh Gaya in which five, including two monks, were injured.
 
Besides, life imprisonment, the NIA special court judge Manoj Kumar Sinha also sentenced 14 years of imprisonment to one of the convicts, Haider Ali, and three years’ imprisonment to another convict Omair Siddiqui.
 
The court also imposed INR 10,000 fine to all the convicts.
 
The court, on 25th of May, convicted Imtiyaz Ansari, Haider Ali, Mujib Ullah, Omair Siddiqui and Azharuddin Qureishi under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act.
 
The sixth accused, Taufique Ahmed, a juvenile then, was earlier sentenced to three years of confinement to a remand home.
