CJ to be informed of Supreme Court decision on Ranjan's remarks

Supreme Court bench announced that their decision on Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake's alleged defamatory remarks on judiciary will be informed to the Chief Justice.
 
This was revealed when the case was taken up before Supreme Court judges Eva Wanasundara and L. T. B. Dehideniya today (Jun 04).
 
Earlier in the day, the Additional Solicitor General Priyantha Naavana who appeared for the Attorney General informed the Supreme Court that the statement made by the Deputy Minister, at a glance is in contempt of court.
 
Earlier, the Supreme Court informed the Attorney General to express his opinion on the controversial statement made by the Deputy Minister.
 
Ranjan Ramanayake had said on several occasions that most of the judges and lawyers in Sri Lanka are corrupt.
 
He made a statement on 21st of August, 2017.
 
Thereafter, Ven. Magalkande Sudatta Thera and several others went to the Supreme Court against the Deputy Minister's statement and the case was first taken up on 14th of December.
