The 48-hour strike launched by the Union of Posts and Telecommunication Officers' ended at midnight yesterday (Jun 05).
 
The distribution of letters and parcels was completely stuck as a result of the trade union action and there were around 100,000 letters and parcels to be distributed.
 
They are demanding their salaries to be increased and address several other professional issues.
 
The convener of the union, Chintaka Bandara said since the authorities have broken their promises, they would commence an indefinite strike from 12th of June.
