State Minister Palitha Range Bandara expressed his views about the accident caused by his son, Yashoda Range Bandara on the 6th of this month while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Our news team attempted to contact State Minister Palitha Range Bandara he avoided speaking to media willingly or unwillingly.

When we attempted to contact the State Minister on his mobile on several occasions, we were told by his security officers that the minister is not available.

Despite the State Minister’s allegations, our reports were all based on accurate facts provided by the Police Media Division.

Police stated that the sword and the club were found inside the cab.

Additionally, Arachchikattuwa police have not yet received a complaint regarding a tense situation, as alleged by the State Minister, erupting following the accident.

Hence, it is questionable as to how the State Minister can make such allegations against media reporting.

A communiqué issued by Police Media Division yesterday at 6.10 am stated that Yashoda Range Bandara was arrested following an accident in Arachchikattuwa on the 06th of June 2018.

The communiqué noted that Yashoda Range Bandara will be produced before courts on the charges of misuse of state property, causing an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol and having a sword in his possession.

Meanwhile, Yashoda Range Bandara had several other allegations leveled against him for causing accidents on several previous occasions.

However, we had not reported that the Minister’s son was driving the vehicle on those incidents.

We would like to kindly remind State Minister Range Bandara that he should study the reported items properly prior to leveling allegations against media.

Further, despite the statement made by the Minister that parties who were affected in the previous incidents were looked after, it was revealed that no such action has been taken thus far.
