The last installment under the agreement on the Hambantota Port with China, amounting to 584 million US Dollars has been delayed.

This is reportedly over a dispute involving infrastructure facilities.

The agreement between China Merchants Port Holdings Company and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Ports was signed on the 29th of July last year.

292.1 million Dollars was received in December last year while a further 97.3 Million dollars was received in January.

The remaining 584 Million was due, a day before yesterday.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Parakrama Dissanayake said that they hope to meet the conditions under the agreement soon.
