The Joint Postal Trade Union Front says that about 1,000 airmail sacks have piled up at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake as a result of the ongoing strike by the postal workers.

The Postal Department said they were earning Rs. 150 million to 180 million on a daily basis and added since the start of the strike that the Department has failed to earn any revenue.

The Postal Trade Unions Front launched this strike 5 days ago demanding to put in place a recruitment procedure specifically tailored for the Postal Department and to ensure job security of the Acting Assistant Post Masters.
