The Court of Appeal today (Jun 20) ruled that the case being heard against former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage at the Colombo High Court should be transferred to another judge.

The ruling was issued after a petition filed by the defendant was taken up at the Court of Appeal.

Justices Kumudini Wickremesinghe and S. Thurairajah heard the petition.

The petitioner requested the Court of Appeal in his petition to transfer the case from Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunga to another judge.

In this case, Aluthgamage is accused of purchasing a house in Kinsey Road, Borella spending Rs. 270 million that was allegedly earned fraudulently when he was a minister.
