The National Transport Commission has requested that Southern Province’s long distance private bus operators call off their strike.

Otherwise, the NTC says that the route permits of the striking bus operators will be suspended.

The long-distance bus operators launched the strike yesterday (Jun 25) after they were not permitted to stop at short distance bus halts.

Due to the strike passengers and office staff heading to Colombo are being inconvenienced.

The Chairman of the National Transport Commission M. A. P. Hemachandra urges the bus operators to resume their services today to avoid their route permits being suspended.
