The Joint Opposition has decided to request the Speaker to recognize the Joint Opposition as an independent group in parliament as its number of MPs now stands at 70.
The number of MPs in the Joint Opposition rose to 70 with the 16 MPs who left the SLFP recently, said that they would join with the JO.
Therefore, the Joint Opposition has decided that they should be recognized as an independent group instead of being considered as a part of the UPFA.
They would also demand the Opposition Leader’s post.
