Losses at CEB increase by 240%

The losses suffered by the Ceylon Electricity Board during 2017 has increased by 240 percent in comparison to 2016.

According to the latest report issued by the Finance Ministry, the CEB had incurred losses of 49.231 billion rupees.

In 2016 the figure stood at 14.499 billion rupees.

Dry weather in catchment areas of hydropower stations was cited as one reason for the increase in losses.
