Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that the group of 16 that participated in the Joint Opposition group meeting, cannot participate in SLFP meetings.

The SLFP group of 16 that left the government, participated in the joint opposition group meeting for the first time yesterday.

The former president made the above statement expressing his views to media.

Meanwhile, the Joint Opposition says that it will make a written request to Speaker the post of Opposition Leader be granted, as they are the largest opposition party.

MP Ranjith Soysa told our news team that this request would be made as the number of MPs representing the joint opposition has increased to 70 members
