State Minister, Vijayakala Maheswaran has arrived in Colombo to meet with the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The government sources revealed that the meeting is scheduled for 6.30 this evening.

The State Minister became a talking point following her controversial statement where she had said, a public gathering in Jaffna, that the LTTE should be resurrected.

The matter created tension in Parliament yesterday (Jul 03) and the House was adjourned as the heated situation escalated beyond control.

The Joint Opposition demanded that the Speaker expel State Minister Maheswaran from Parliament.

Accordingly, the Speaker informed the Attorney General to ascertain whether the State Minister has violated the constitution in making that statement.

The TNA, SLFP as well as fellow MPs from her own party, the UNP protested against her statement.

Meanwhile, State Minister Maheswaran has informed her party that she would attend Parliament this afternoon.

Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to make a special statement in parliament today with regard to this matter.

In addition, several factions made complaints to police yesterday against her controversial statement.
